All of our listings at Little Bear Farm are dog friendly! And........ We Do Not Charge a Dog Fee!! You can bring up to 3 house trained and well behaved dogs at no cost. We ask that you add them to your reservation so we know that dogs are staying in the listing, but Yes!!! Bring your dogs.
What does dog friendly mean besides that? Our business is set up to accommodate your pet or for those that travel without pets. We offer a high level of clean, meaning that all linens and towels are washed between each guest. We offer crates so you don't have to pack your own.
Best of all.......We offer a huge private mown field where you can take your dog for a romp. Our property is mostly surrounded by forest owned by the Episcopal Mission allowing our property a nice private feel. We also have a pond. Your dogs are welcome if you want to supervise but you are going to have to clean the mess up if they go swimming. :)
Our property is home to other dogs or dog guests, so be on the lookout for visitors from the neighborhood. We are also home to a wide range of wildlife including small animals such as rabbits, chipmunks, frogs, o'possums, raccoons, turkeys, song birds and large animals such as deer, bear, coyotes, and we suspect the occasional mountain lion (that is not confirmed).
For all of that, the next question is; What do we expect in return?
- We ask that you treat our listing as you would your own and leave it in the condition you found it.
- Poop Happens! Sometimes the neighborhood dogs leave gifts but we try to stay on it. We encourage you to make poop walks into the field. If your dog poops near the listing, we provide a scoop. Just scoop it up and flip it into the field. We are in the process of installing Poop Stations but they are not in place. We prefer that you not use poop bags and leave them in the trash as we have to haul the trash to the container site in our car.
- When you leave your dog unsupervised in the listing, we encourage you to utilize a crate as that tends to support dogs in a strange place and helps to keep them from destroying blinds and damaging walls, doors, and furniture. We are sorry to say that we will ask for reimbursement in the event that your pet causes damage.
- When you gotta go... urine stains are a subject of contention with the cleaning crew. Unfortunately they happen more than you think, even with careful conscientious owners. We ask that you check closely behind your pup during your stay and when you check out for puddles. We leave an assortment of cleaning materials and if you need more don't hesitate to ask for more. However, if you leave excessive urine stains or puddles that require extensive cleaning or the crew has to move furniture or appliances to clean puddles...... please know that we will assess a hefty cleanup fee to reimburse for the cost of the labor and damage.
- When your dog is outside, be aware of the presence of neighboring dogs, and wildlife. While deer are beautiful and cute, a doe with a fawn is nothing to play with. Coyotes can also be unpleasant face to face.
We are excited to meet you a
